New in my Photo Rental: Six works from New Botanica, a series about fluttering plastic clung to thorny bushes, scattered across the ground, even caught high up in the cypress trees.

Although these photographs are part of The Plastic Sea, it is also a first step toward documenting Europe’s plastic pollution more broadly. Plastic is now found everywhere humans have ever been — from the moon to the summit of Everest — and even in places we’ve never set foot, like the deep sea. By 2040, global plastic production is set to double.

In September, a preview of some works will be shown by Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen at the Amsterdam art fair NAP+.
