Built in 1978, Hotel Pearl is a sprawling Soviet hotel on Sochi’s beachfront. In addition to 956 rooms, the complex encompasses eight restaurants, fourteen bars, shops, a swimming pool, a theatre and two nightclubs. It is unnecessary to leave the hotel. You can spend all day swimming laps in the enormous saltwater pool, lying on the beach or dining in the numerous restaurants. The hotel has become increasingly expensive. Floor after floor has been refurbished. Hotel Pearl had once been the place to meet foreigners. The neighbouring striptease club had also profited. Nowadays the hotel is trying to meet international standards. It won’t be long before the dancers have to make way for modern family entertainment.
